Halloween and Erik's 4th Birthday

Here are some pictures from Halloween and from Erik's 4th Birthday Party.  He had a really great time with his friends from church and his neighbors.  Halloween was fun as well.  I made his costume this year, he wanted to be a dog.  Tristan was a cow, and wore the same costume that Erik wore last year.  We went to the ward trunk or treat and Grandma came over and helped me take the boys around the neighborhood for their first official Trick-or-Treating experience.  They had lots of fun collecting candy.

Tristan the cow.

The boys had so much fun gutting the pumpkins!

Erik swinging at the pinata.  He didn't
quite understand being blindfolded while doing it though.

The boys pulling the strings to let the candy out.

Opening gifts.  I don't know why he looks so
sad here.

Easter

I know it's a little late but I wanted to post some pictures from when Doug's mom and Frank visited.  Erik and Tristan don't get to see these grandparents very often so Erik and Tristan were excited and enjoyed the attention they got.

Erik and Tristan with Grandma Elliott.

Erik had lots of fun dying the Easter eggs.

I forgot to get pictures of the finished products but there
were stickers and tattoos that we put on the eggs.

Right before they Grandma and Grandpa left we got a picture of the boys
with them.  They had a blast playing together and hope to see them soon again!

What Shall We Give?

I have so much to be grateful for this Christmas season.  To name a few things,
my family, my children and husband and my friends.  Since Thanksgiving
I've been trying to "get" in the Christmas spirit.  I knew this year
wouldn't be focused on buying gifts for each other, and I am ok
with that.  We already have enough toys and other gadgets.
I wanted to focus on giving this Christmas season and teaching my
Children the real reason we celebrate this holiday.

There are a couple small gifts of service we have done this
year so far, such as:  Shoveling our neighbors porch and the sidewalk
path that we share.  Making and taking cookies to our neighbor.  We also went
caroling with my parents and gave cookies and shared a Christmas thought with
a few people.  I was able to help a family in our ward by watching there children.
They had been laid off and then found another job and had to hurriedly pack
up and move with a little over two weeks notice.

Our family has been blessed to receive some wonderful gifts of service as well.
Let's just say that when I had thought I was in the Christmas spirit I don't
think I was fully there yet.  We have faced a few trials in our family this year
and one in particular had been burdensome for me.  I kept letting it
bug me and I am grateful for the spirit that this particular family brought
to my home.

Below is a video of how I feel about this Christmas season and
what I wanted to share.  Merry Christmas!

Christmas Memories

This was our first official Christmas at home with the kids.  We had our Christmas Tree up and our stockings out, which I made last year minus Tristan's,  It was very exciting for us.  We were very excited about being able to spend Christmas morning at home.  I had planned on cleaning up and doing last minute shopping on Thursday, but I woke up Thursday with horrible congestion and a sore throat, blah!  I wasn't able to do much of anything, even though I still tried.  Being sick during the holidays = no fun!  Luckily I wasn't too sick to miss out on the festivities.  We have always gone to my Aunt's Christmas Eve when I was growing up and we have continued to go since we married.  We did things a little different this year for dinner.  We usually have a ham and mashed potatoes and all the other traditional Christmas fixings, but this year my Aunt suggested we do an Italian themed meal.  Doug said he would make homemade pasta with spaghetti sauce.  It was very yummy!

Oh yea, and Erik woke up with pinkeye Christmas morning

Erik loves blocks!

Erik would NOT east his oatmeal without his Elmo bubble bath.

After making of HUGE mess with his oatmeal Erik got
to try out his new bubble bath, and proceeded to eat it.

Later in the morning we went over to my parents for a yummy breakfast of waffles with sausage and fresh fruit.  We spent the rest of our day there and had lots of fun.

Tristan got a gloworm from grandma and grandpa.

For dinner we had prime rib and snow crab.  The prime rib was delicious!

No nap = falling asleep at the dinner table after one bite of jello.

My Aunt Shirley doesn't look too happy in this pic.

Family Night

Last night for our Monday night activity we built a gingerbread house. I have never before built one, and it was really fun. Here are some pictures of the finished product.

My favorite part is the roof, on this side
and the path of gum drops.

4th of July and trip to the park

Erik loves going down the slide at the park

getting ready to go down the slide

Playing tic tac toe

Crawling to daddy through the tunnel

waiting for the fireworks

having some strawberry shortcake

He kept on running off and this is one of the
many times Doug got up to chase after him
and bring him back.

Aunt Rachie came with us and was a big help
with Erik.
