I'm Not Your Little Boy, I'm a Big Boy

This is what Erik said to me today and it about broke my heart, but it is still so true.  Erik will always be my little boy, even though he will be turning three this Friday, aaahhhhh where does time go!  I can remember, wasn't it just yesterday that I held him in my arms for the very first time???  I suppose it is all a part of life.  We all have to grow up and get older.  I suppose that is why, at least for me with my own two boys, that when they reached one I was craving another newborn baby.  I feel like reminiscing a little so here are some pictures of Erik through the years.

Scripture Stories for Children

Scripture Stories: Episode 1 - Programs - Mormon Channel

I was browsing the new lds.org and stumbled upon this in the Scriptures section. What a great way to share with our children the gospel than by having them listen to other children read and talk about what they learn. I am excited to share this with Erik!

Up at 5 am Making These

I have been wanting to make homemade cinnamon rolls for a while
now.  Last night I decided to make them.  I then woke up at 5 am to
finish them off before Erik and Tristan woke up and so
that Doug could have some for breakfast.

I am really happy with how they turned out
and they were really good!

Before going into the oven.

Fresh cinnamon rolls out of the oven.

Erik

Our home teacher came by the other night to visit us.  Erik was very excited to see him.  Erik started talking to him and showing him all of his toys and showing him tricks he can do.  Then our home teacher started talking to us about the atonement and about Jesus Christ.  All the while Erik keeps chattering away.  Then, while our home teacher is speaking to us Erik, in the background, says, "Heavenly Father gave us Jesus Christ."  Then he proceeded to grab is Book of Mormon Reader and the Doctrine and Covenants Reader and the Old and New Testament readers.  He opens up the Old Testament reader and the first chapter is on the creation from Genesis chapter 1.  Erik then proceeded to give us all a lesson asking us what the pictures were of and then finding pictures of the Savior.

Sometimes, I am really surprised at the things that he soaks up from Nursery class and from things that we teach him in our Family Home Evening lessons.  I love watching him learn and grow.  These are the moments that I now live for!  Being a mother and being able to watch my children learn and be excited about the gospel is a great happiness in my life.

In only EIGHT more days my little Erik will be turning THREE years old!  He is growing up way too fast.  I love him so much and I am grateful that he is mine.  He always knows how to make me smile and he knows just what to say to get what he wants.  He is a smart little cookie.  Sometimes I think he teaches me more than I teach him.  All I have to say is that I am very grateful for him.
