Video of Erik

This is my first time video taping Erik. He always becomes so quiet when I take a picture, or in this case video tape him. Enjoy!

Concerning babies...

Here are some relatively recent pictures of Erik that are reflective of his new abilities, talents, and his new found curiosity : )

mmmm... icecream, this stuff is cold!

So Erik is still learning about sitting up, he is doing well with it, even if he topples over reaching for a toy. We are all finally feeling all better. For the last month we have all gotten some form of the cold, me getting it last, after I thought I wouldn't get, oh well. Erik is getting two more teeth so he is on his way to six teeth. That reminds me the other day Erik was playing on the floor by Doug's feet and he bit his toe! And as we speak he is playing with Doug's feet, we'll hope he doesn't bite him this time. My mom's garden is growing well and I should get some pictures up soon.

Being sick is no fun

Friday Erik had a fever of 100.1, he has never had a fever before this. He doesn't eat well this day either. I take him to the doctor's and they say he has Rosiolo, up until then I had never heard of such a illness. Babies 6 months to 3 years are able to get this, it involves a fever and a rash on the trunk of the body, luckily Erik didn't contract all of the symptoms. What happened instead is he got a really bad cold. Bad enough to where it was difficult to feed him, due to his blocked nasal passages. So the past couple of days he hasn't slept soundly at night like I'm used to. He finally slept a whole night last night, which was wonderful for me. I found him this morning in bed with dried snot under his nose. He sure didn't like me cleaning that up.
Doug has also gotten a little sick, he thinks Erik passed it on. He says it's just allergies, and drainage. Anyway, Doug has started a new semester of school and he's only taking 2 classes, he will be testing out of another Composition class. Yesterday we had really nice weather, I was able to turn the ac off which was really nice.
This week I have been practicing with Erik how to sit up. I have a couple pictures I will post in a couple days. I'm hoping that all the sickness in our home will pass by the weekend.

Gardening and other happenings

This past week my mom and I have created a vegetable garden. It's really cool the way we put it together. My mom found this website http://squarefootgardening.com
It only took us a few days to get it complete. I will post pictures of it later on. We planted sugar snap peas, broccoli, cucumber "pickling", muskmellon, watermelon, onions, tomatoes, pumpkin zucchini, summer squash, I think that is all. I am just really excited about the turn out.
Other exciting news, well not much really. Erik is moving around more and more each day. His main mode of movement is rolling over from one end of the room to the other. He loves to grab and reach for anything, and it's getting a lot harder to just dress him each day. He is getting into a schedule with naps during the day, 2 to be exact.
Doug has just finished another semester of school. He has tested out of one class and will be testing out of another one this upcoming semester. He has completed one year of school so far, one more year till he graduates and then he will move on to his bachelors degree. For the time being he is relishing his time off till the next semester starts.
We have also found out that we will be going camping this summer at my mother-in-laws. She has a wonderful yard out side a national forest. It is very beautiful so we are looking forward to that.
